About Bywater Brew Pub

Locally owned and operated, BBP features an upscale bar food menu, 12 taps for beers brewed on site and a full bar. The space features art from local artists, many of whose studios are located on the second floor. Located at 3000 Royal Street at the corner of Montegut in the Bywater Neighborhood of New Orleans Louisiana, we look forward to serving our neighbors in the Bywater and beyond.


Our Team

Nahum Laventhal

Nahum, a product of the New Orleans Public School System and Ben Franklin High School, was born and raised in New Orleans. A graduate of LSU Law School, and a lawyer by trade, his work has taken him around the state where he misses no opportunity to share and build his vision for Bywater Brew Pub. He has always had a passion for good craft beers, and for years made his own stove top beer with great results. He is now very proud to be launching Bywater Brew Pub. ‘Please come on in and say hello!’

Sonny Day

Sonny is a lifelong resident of the greater New Orleans area. He has 28 years of professional and home brewing experience working for the original Dixie Brewing Co., Abita Brewing Co., Gordon Biersch New Orleans, and most recently Urban South Brewery. Sonny owned his own commercial brewery on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish and has a small pilot brewing system at his home where he homebrews the same beer for which his brewery was known. Sonny is passionate about brewing and promoting the craft beer industry, and is a longtime member of the Crescent City Homebrewers. Besides beer, his hobbies include cars and boats. Sonny has been brewing fine craft beer since before the turn of the century. Beer for all!

Dylan Laventhal

Dylan was born and raised in New Orleans. He graduated from LSU with a degree in marketing. He has always been a student of the entrepreneurial arts and excited to be part of the growth of this family business.
